let them drool over cake!
Few things make me wish I was closer to a city, but this might be an exception. It as least makes me wish for a transporter so I could beam myself to New York tomorrow. Even stranger than my desire to go to one of the biggest cities around, I just want to go to Grand Central Station, walk around for a few hours and leave. How weird is that?
What, you might wonder, is sufficient to draw the country mage's thoughts into the city.
Cake!
Not just any cake. Wedding cake.
No, I am not getting married. This is pure food porn. And oh my, is it ever hot!
Tomorrow is the last day of an event that brings over 50 talented cake artists together in Grand Central Station in a showcase of wedding cakes guaranteed to blow your socks off. (and if it doesn't, I want to see your cake!)
Luckily for those of us who can't make it to NY by tomorrow, the ever bountiful eGullet has a thread wi th a LOT of pictures. There are some really imaginative cakes: the frog prince is delightfully whimsical, and then there's the chess pawn (trust me, you'll know it when you see it), and the fondant draped like silk--how do they do that???
Go. Look. Drool.
