23, 5, ramble
I feel a bit like I should draw a rune to go with this post, it's all so mystically numeric. Kayln of Kayln's Kitchen has tagged me for the latest meme, in which one counts 23 posts from the start of their blog, takes the 5th sentence, and goes deep.
Wish me luck.
No, I don't mean wish me luck on the meme: that's my sentence: "Wish me luck."
I am not sure how the numbers 23 and 5 were selected, but my results are almost laughably dead on. You see, 23.5 is at the start of a freeform writing/photography experiment that I devised mostly as a way to use some photos I really liked and tie together a few random thoughts. Amusingly enough, it's an unfinished writing project--which, as those who know me well would tell you, is the way of my world.
You see, when I say "I haven't finished that book yet" it's almost as likely to be as a writer as a reader. Well, perhaps I exaggerate a bit but I have books--more than one and on more than one topic--mostly written and languishing on one hard drive or another. Sigh. Maybe that "one hard drive or another" should clue me in to something. Something about reach v. grasp and the raw number of hours in a day. (why yes, it is almost 4 in the morning, thank you for asking)
And I have more than writing projects on my "I want to do..." list. A change in location and a new camera with which to see that locale will do that to you. One of those projects has been percolating for several months now and I think it's time to actually do it. It promises to be both fun and educational, and if done right, it might even have the side benefit of streamlining some of my other projects. Wouldn't that be sweet? I've got a few things to get off my desk (monitor?) first so it'll be a couple of weeks before it makes its debut, but it's starting to coalesce. All will be revealed soon, but I've got a bit more work first. Wish me luck.
See what I mean about it being dead on?
Oops, almost forgot the tag part! Hmmm, who to pick...who to pick... How about:
McAuliflower at Brownie Points, unless of course that Doonesbury thing has gone to her head and she's off signing donuts.
Crispy bacony goodness from Megwoo at IheartBacon would be fun and tasty.
If Joe at Culinary in the Desert can tear himself away from the six amazing original dishes per day grind maybe he'll play.
I'm tagging The Baking Sheet's Nic as well, in hopes she'll post something that doesn't make me gain weight by just looking at it.
Last, but certainly not least, Ruth can tell us her tales of Once Upon a Feast and make it all sound good. Very, very good.
Here are the instructions for the meme:
- Delve into your blog archive.
- Find your 23rd post (or closest to).
- Find the fifth sentence (or closest to).
- Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions. Ponder it for meaning, subtext or hidden agendas...
- Tag five people to do the same.
